How to choose the right sailing boat?

How can you make sure you choose the right vessel for your sailing holiday? Yacht or catamaran? We are regularly asked this question…. above all it really depends on your preferences. So, let’s take a look at our three broad vessel types in order to help you make the right decision:

Monohull yachts

Monohull sailing yacht

Choose a monohull to experience true sailing potential and excitement. We have yachts that can take up to 12 people in our fleet.

Catamarans

For extra space, luxury and stability, you can sail on a catamaran. The extra spec onboard allows you to maximize your off-grid adventures.

Crewed catamaran

The ultimate sailing package comes with the top-of-the-range catamarans in our fleet. These are fully crewed with everyone needed to masterfully sail them.

  • Skipper/Hostess/Chef included

  • Deckhand where appropriate

  • Pre-paid APA required

Thinking about the answers to these questions will help narrow it down further:

  • How many people will be on board? The number of berths on a vessel is the maximum number of people it can legally carry. Remember that you have to count both Guests and crew.
  • Does your group consist of pairs who can share the same cabin or do some Guests require a separate cabin? It is generally better for people to sleep in private cabins rather than converting the communal area into beds at night if it can be avoided.
  • If you are taking help along, the skipper and any other crew also sleep on board, so cabin space needs to be reserved for them. This is easy if there are crew cabins on the boat. If not, they will need one of the other cabins (skipper and hostess can share). If you are booking a crewed catamaran, space has already been allocated for them so you do not need to adjust for this in your calcuations.
  • Do you prefer comfort? There is more space in a catamaran so the spec tends to be higher
